Alpha

Next Alpha begins Sunday, September 21st at 5pm.

Contact Greg at 654-2243 or Pastor Jeff at 452-7132 to sign up for Alpha at Fremont.

What’s the point of life? What happens when we die? Is forgiveness possible?

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a way to learn more about the Christian faith and get answers to some of the difficult questions in life.  It is an opportunity to meet new people, learn and laugh together.  In Alpha, no question is too simple or too hostile.  Alpha provides you with a safe and informal place to find answers to your questions.  You could call Alpha "Christianity 101".

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone including:

  • Atheists, Agnostics, members of other faiths and sects
  • People interested in learning about Christianity
  • New Christians
  • Christians who want to brush up on the basics

Everyone will learn something in Alpha.

People attend Alpha for a wide variety of reasons.  Some want to investigate whether God exists.  Others have attended church on and off their whole lives but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith.  People come from different backgrounds and hold many different viewpoints.  All come with the same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives.

What happens during a typical Alpha course?

The Alpha course is made up of 10 sessions, a weekend retreat and a celebration dinner.  Participants may attend as many or as few of the Sessions as they would like.  During a Session, everyone sits down together for a meal.  The dinner is followed by a video and small group discussions based on the video.  Some of the topics discussed in Alpha include:

Christianity:  Boring, Untrue, and Irrelevant?, Who is Jesus?, Why did Jesus die?, How can I be sure of my faith?, Why and how should I read the Bible?, Why and how should I pray?, How does God guide us?, Who is the Holy Spirit?, How can I resist evil?, Why and how should I tell others?, Does God heal today?

What will Alpha cost me?

There is no fee or charge for Alpha.  Donations are accepted at each session to cover the costs of meals and other expenses.

Do you want to learn more?

Attending a Preview Dinner is the typical way -- and a great one -- to learn more about Alpha.  There is no commitment required to attend the dinner.  The Alpha series begins the Sunday after the Preview Dinner. For more information about the next Alpha Preview Dinner at Fremont, call the church at 916-452-7132 and leave a message for Dave Drotts.

Do you have kids?  There is a place for them too!

Childcare is available while you attend each Alpha sessionFirst, the children eat dinner with you and the entire group.  Dinner is a time for family and good company!  After dinner they will go to a separate room for supervised activities.

For more information about Alpha at Fremont, call Greg at 654-2243 or Pastor Jeff at 452-7132.  We also encourage you to go to the national web site at www.alphausa.org.
