Scripture: John 5

Key points to ponder: Jesus put all his dependence, trust, and obedience in his Father. He wants others to trust in his Father for all things, and come to the Father for life.

Challenging terms: Father and Son are terms used a lot in the book of John to describe the relationship between Jesus and God; Jesus is considered to be God, but within the Trinity he is the Son; Moses (vs 45-47) was a major leader of the Jewish people in the Old Testament who led the people out of slavery and spoke about Jesus’ coming in the future.

Question: How can belief and trust in Jesus be a source of life? (v. 40)

Prayer: Jesus, thank you, that whoever hears your word and believes in Him who sent you has eternal life and will not be judged, but has crossed from death to life.

Consider praying: Father, I pray you will reveal areas of my life that I am walking independently of you, rather than walking in complete obedience and dependence upon you.
