Scripture: John 14
Key points to ponder: Jesus is preparing his disciples for his departure by promising that he will not leave them as orphans, but instead will send them the Holy Spirit, who is also referred to as the counselor or advocate (vv. 16-17)
Challenging terms: Father’s house is another term for heaven. The Holy Spirit is the actual Spirit of God that takes up residence in Christ followers. The prince of this world is Satan.
Questions: How dependent do you live upon the Holy Spirit? What does it practically look like to live a life of dependence upon the Holy Spirit?
Prayer: Father, thank you that you have not left me as an orphan, but instead you have come to live in me through your Spirit.
Consider praying: For the Holy Spirit to constantly bring back to mind the words of Jesus to both comfort and encourage me.
