Scripture: 1 Peter 1
Key points to ponder: 1) We have complete security in Christ (vv. 3-5). Trials are a key manner in which we are refined (v. 7). In light of all that has been accomplished for us through Christ we are to respond with obedient lives (vv. 13-18).
Challenging terms: Exiles in verse 1 refers to Christians because this world no longer signifies their true home. Born again, or new birth is referring to a new life as a result of placing one’s faith in Christ (v. 3). A lamb without blemish or defect (v. 20) refers to the sinless nature of Christ, and thus his sacrifice on our behalf being acceptable to God the Father.
Question: To what extent do you believe and grasp the security of your relationship with Christ as described in verses 3-5?
Prayer: Thank you Father that you call us to a living hope, Jesus Christ, and that we are new and born again in you! Thank you for setting an example for us to be holy as you’re holy.
Consider praying that God would reveal to you areas in your life where you still need to be renewed and made holy to reflect Christ.
