Scripture: John 16
Key points to ponder: 1) Jesus promises us an incredible gift we have access to when we are abiding in him; the Holy Spirit (aka the Counselor/Helper) (vs. 7). Before receiving the Holy Spirit, a time of suffering must happen which we’ll see in the next chapters. 3) Jesus desires us to believe and trust in him just as the disciples did in verse 31.
Challenging terms: There are many names for the Holy Spirit in the Bible. Some include the Helper, the Counselor, the Comforter, or the spirit of truth (vs. 13).
Question: Have you asked the Holy Spirit, the Helper, for help recently? What’s an area you can ask for their help with right now?
Prayer: Father, thank you for promising us the Holy Spirit to help us and guide us.
Consider praying: Father, help me learn to be more dependent on you through the power of the Holy Spirit who will strengthen me and guide me.
