SCRIPTURE: 1 John 1
KEY POINTS TO PONDER: 1) Jesus came in the flesh (v. 1). 2) This message is written for the purpose of us having fellowship with the Father and His Son, and so that we may have complete joy. 3) By saying that we do not sin we are deceiving ourselves. 4) If we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive (v. 9).
CHALLENGING TERMS: “Darkness” (v. 6) refers to false teachings and things that are not truth. “Light” is referring to the truth of Scripture. Therefore “walking in the darkness” means living in ways that go against the truth of the Word, while “walking in the light” means living in ways that follow God’s Word.
QUESTIONS: What are areas in your life where you may be “walking in the darkness?” (v. 6). What would it look like to walk in the light?
PRAYER: Thank you, Father for giving us this message of forgiveness of sins, fellowship with other believers, and fellowship with You so that our joy may be made complete.
Consider praying over the areas in your life where you feel you may be “walking in the darkness.”
